AOKP is a free, open source custom ROM for your Samsung Galaxy S3 I747. This latest variant brings along with it Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, meaning you get some cool features such as lockscreen widgets and Google’s “Project Butter”. The core system functions on this ROM do work, but it may be very buggy as this ROM is still in it’s beginning stages. Don’t expect this to be stable, and should be used more so just to try out and tinker around with. Try it out and tell us what you think in the comment section below!

    Changelog

    No data issues
    Updated Underwear kernel
    Themable MMS is back
Lots of other things. But like I said. First actual release. ;)

i’ve been using for some time now and I actually prefer it over the stock rom. However, i just realized that I am not able to send nor receive MMS (picture) messaging at all. I’ve been googling to find an answer and no help at all. Someone said to flash the older version of messaging, which I did, and it still doesn’t. At this point I am ready to give up and just go back to my stock rom until it gets fixed in another release. I have AOKP 4.2.2 with kernal 3.4.37-underwear kernal dated Mar 23rd 2013.

      • Yah its a great ROM! unfortunate about the MMS, flashing the older version of messaging would be the first thing I would recommend. Maybe its your kernel, although it isn’t very likely.

thanks for your response. If you hear of any newer releases beyond the one i posted, if you would post on here that would be great. Otherwise I will also keep my eye out for a new build. Man, the bad part about is I love Jelly bean and it’s option, well at least what i’ve seen with AOKP. Even though I do like the touchwiz widgets, i can do without them having AOKP,. But I can’t go on without having my MMS!! Who can do without that!?? hahaha

          • I’ll be sure to post about any new releases, and funny enough I liked a lot of the Touchwiz widgets too! If your really into customizing your devices, I definitely recommend you try out JellyBam because it has a ton of different features taken from all the best custom ROMs. I have a full written review in the “Reviews” section if your interested. Other than that, there should also be a tutorial up with one of the more recent builds in the “ROMs & Kernels” section.

Oh thanks for pointing that out. I just came across this site looking for help with my MMS issue and didn’t really bother checking this site out. I will most definitely check this site and add you to my facebook. With Jellybam, are you aware of any issues;ie, camera, MMS, or anything? I’m gonna finish reading your reviews page on JellyBam! and flash it. Again, i appreciate you pointing that out and good job on the site!

            • Not sure if switching to JellyBam will fix your MMS issue, but its worth a try! Keep in mind that I did the review on a Nexus 7 so your experience may differ.
